World’s favorite Handmade Carpet Destination – 41st India Carpet Expo: 27-31 Jan’21 – Asia’s Largest Carpet Expo – 3rd VIRTUAL EXHIBITION – The Virtual Expo will provide platform to 150+ Indian exporters and approx. 300 buyers of 64+ countries

Today, the 27th January 2021, After the excitement of 72nd Republic Day, India is all set to delve into the virtual festivities of the 41st India Carpet Expo. 2021 marks the 3rd virtual edition of the long running tradition of exhibiting the rich cultural essence of the handmade Indian Carpets and Rugs for an international audience. This event is managed & organized by the Carpet Export Promotion Council.

The India Carpet Expo is an initiative to bridge the gap between Indian products and demand of Handmade Carpets and floor coverings across the globe in post pandemic era. It is Asia’s Largest Carpet Expo that offers a unique platform for the buyers & sellers to synergize in order to grow & strengthen the global carpet industry.

Shri Shantmanu, IAS, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India inaugurated the 41st India Carpet Expo – Virtual Edition on 27th January, 2021 at 11.35 a.m. in the gracious presence of Ms. Mudita Mishra, Additional Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Shri Sohan Kumar Jha, Sr. Director, Shri Arun Yadav, Director, O/o. the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Shri Siddh Nath Singh, Chairman, CEPC, Shri Umesh Kumar Gupta, Shri Abdul Rub, Shri Sandeep Kataria , Shri Bodh Raj Malhotra , Shri Mohd. Wasif Ansari, Shri Sunil Jain, Shri Husain Jafar Husaini, Shri Sanjay Kumar Gupta , Shri Shree Ram Maurya, Members of Committee of Administration, CEPC, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director, CEPC, Shri Kishan Kumar, CEO, Carpet & Handicrafts Sector Skill Council, , International & National Media, Participants etc. Shri Smriti Irani in a Video Message convyed best wishes and invited everyone to explore the beautiful world of Indian Handmade Carpets.

Shri Siddh Nath Singh, Chairman, CEPC in his welcome address conveyed gratitude to Shri Shantmanu, DC (Handicrafts) for his support and guidance without which Council may not be able to organize its activities.  Shri Singh further conveyed gratitude to Ms. Mudita Mishra, Shri Sohan Kr. Jha and Shri Arun Yadav for their support and cooperation.  Shri Singh also conveyed thanks to all his colleagues in the COA, Member-Exporters and participants. Shri Singh informed that approximately 150+ prominent Member-Exporters from major carpet belt of Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, Panipat, Jammu & Kashmir have confirmed their participation. CEPC has also received the overwhelming response from around 300 overseas buyers from 64 Countries.

 

India’s unique capability in adapting to any type of design, color, quality & size as per the provisions of the carpet buyers has made it a household name in International market. Industry uses diverse raw materials from various ports of India i.e., wool, silk, manmade fiber, jute, cotton and various blends of different yarns. The industry is having immense potential for growth both in production and Exports. Industry is environment friendly and does not use scarce & perishable energy resources. The makes the Expo an extremely popular destination worldwide on Handmade Carpets.

 

According to Shri Siddh Nath Singh, Chairman of CEPC, “We are committed to make endeavours in promoting Indian manufacturers at various levels and have high expectations from the Virtual-Expo this year. This year we will be taking Indian exports of handmade carpet to much greater and newer heights. India carpet expo is an ideal platform for International Carpet Buyers, Buying houses, buying Agents, Architects and Indian Carpet Manufacturers & Exporters to meet and establish long term business relationship. We are also planning to institute Design Awards during the India Carpet Expo.”

Shri Shantmanu in his inaugural address mentioned that 41st ICE is  a great opportunity for exhibitors as well as buyers and will be beneficial for the 20 lakhs weavers and artisans associated with the Carpet Industry directly or indirectly.

According to Shri Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director, CEPC, “We have prepared a dedicated Quick-Reaction Team assuring to provide 24X7 assistance to all our valuable participants by the agency and CEPC staff. The CEPC-official team is already addressing the queries coming from the members and buyers.”

Over the years, the India Carpet Expo has established itself as a great sourcing platform for the carpet buyers from all over the globe. It is the endeavor of the Council to provide exclusive business environment to both carpet importers as well as manufacturer and exporters.

The committee of administration is expecting the Virtual-Expo to be a grand success, which will be a gateway to new era of technology. Hence, will open the doors to global market during Covid-pandemic era.

 

Shri Umesh Kumar Gupta, Member COA, CEPC conveyed formal Vote of thanks on behalf of the Council.  Shri Umesh Gupta conveyed his thanks to Shri Shantmanu, Ms. Mudita Mishra, Shri Sohan Jha, Shri Arun Yadav for their all time support and cooperation to the Council. Shri Umesh Gupta also conveyed thanks to Chairman, CEPC, all COA Members, participants, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director, CEPC, team of CEPC and Falcon for their dedicated efforts and hard work for the success of the 41st India Carpet Expo.

Shri Siddh Nath Singh while summing up the session informed that Council had also instituted Design Awards and received 65 entries from the participants.  The Jury are  in the process for selecting the awardees.  Council will announce the Awards on 30th January, 2021.

Shri Siddh Nath Singh further informed that Council is the process to make the Bhadohi Carpet Expo Mart fully functional and is organizing a Curtain Raiser Programme on 7th February, 2021 for the Member-Exporters/ trade.
