Today 27th October, 2020, As per guidance of Shri Siddh Nath Singh, Chairman, CEPC to educate members and spread awareness among them about various trade practices and to restrict import of machine made carpet and other floor coverings,  Carpet Export Promotion Council organized  a Webinar on “Trade Remedies and Export Promotion Measures on 27th October 2020 from 3.00 p.m.

Shri Siddh Nath Singh, Chairman, CEPC, Shri Umesh Kumar Gupta, Member COA, CEPC, Shri Satish Kumar, Additional Director General,  Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), Government of India, Shri Amit Kumar, Joint DGFT, Kanpur, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director, CEPC and  Member Exporters were present in the webinar.

Shri Siddh Nath Singh in his welcome address raised the issue of import of machine made carpets from Turkey and need for imposing higher import duty upto 200% on import of Carpets and other floor coverings to safeguard the domestic industry. Shri Siddh Nath Singh also brief the health issues on use of imported carpets.  Shri Siddh Nath Singh mentioned that he already raised the issue at various level including in the meeting with Hon’ble Commerce and Industry minister, Govt. of India.

Shri Satish Kumar, Additional Director General,  Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), Government of India, make a presentation on Trade Remedies measures and informed about the formation of Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) a Quasi-judicial body in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry who conducts research and investigations on Anti-Dumping, Anti-Subsidy and Safeguard  issues of  products and makes recommendations to the Central Government (Ministry of Finance) for imposition of duty. Shri Satish Kumar informed in details the procedures and technicalities of Anti Dumping,  Anti Subsidy and Safeguard issues.

Shri Amit Kumar, Joint DGFT, Kanpur made a presentation on Global import of Carpets and provide market analysis data to the participants.  Shri Amit Kumar mentioned that there is need for diversification and to have more discussions and focus to find out which products are more in demand and our share in global market.

Shri Sanjay Kumar thanked the eminent speakers for sparing their valuable time for the Webinar and sharing the valuable information with Members which will certainly benefit the Members in broader way.
